Gilly's back for summer break and that means lots of attraction exploration with the fake tourist that hasn't been back home for a year. She saw photos on Instagram of what seems to be a fairy lights filled exhibit where people take #followmeto photos of their bae and so she asked me to follow her lor.
Future World by teamLab
The Nature exhibit are super calming and relaxing with bean bags around for visitors to rest and watch the transformation of the installation/artwork. *past-occupational hazard alert* Okay confession time. Upon stepping into the exhibit, I felt like the environment and ambience would be really helpful for kids to calm down during a meltdown or just be chill (without the crowd of course). Sigh I miss the kids from intern days 😭
The town exhibit is designed in consideration towards children, which encourages learning through play (quoting from the brochure). There are a number of stations in this exhibit but they were filled with kids and so the only one we managed to attempt is colouring. It's actually quite cool because you can actually scan your end-coloured-product and it'll be flashed either on the floor or walls and the best part is, it moves and travels across Town and Park exhibits. KEWLLLL.
Gillian said that my animals looked really gloomy against her colourful croc but I was just inspired by the kaleidoscopic flowers and fauna from the Nature exhibit. Putting good use of what I've seen previously so that money is not wasted right???
Breezed through the Park exhibit too because crowd + kids.
Hahaha thank you stranger for walking into the frame and looking upwards at the right timing.
Big Bang Data
Understanding The Cloud
Hurhur pretty scary to think of the cloud storing all our information and expanding every single day. Oh there were also numbers showing which country had to repair their underground cables most frequently (hint: biggest country in Asia).
The Data Explosion
I Am Data
Gillian had this rather scary thought that maybe in about 100 years time, there'll be no traces of our physical photos anymore since everything is so digitalised now. I hate to agree but I can't help to feel that it will eventually happen. Like I can't even find a neoprint machine in Singapore now????
What Data Means To US
This exhibit is literally what data means to us whereby visitors pen down their thoughts about data on post-it notes and attach them on onto the ropes. BUT. There weren't enough post-its because people were declaring their love for Zac Efron or "xxx was here".
The Art & Science of Gems by Van Cleef &Arpels
This exhibit was like a visual feast for the eyes because can't afford to own one so can only look lo (and the exhibit was heavily guarded with security). But it's really crazy that all the pieces were handmade by the craftsmen at Van Cleefs & Arpels. Whole lot of dedication there.
After the museum, we went to the back of MBS where all the aircon vents are because the archi student said that they made a feature piece out of it by using hinges. And so we sat there waiting for the wind to come just so we can see the hinges in action but when you want something to occur, it just wouldn't go your way.
